Type Tuesday is a member-run affiliation of regional type designers and type enthusiasts based in Minneapolis, MN.

We host type lectures, type design work/crit sessions, and other type-related events in Minneapolis and surrounding areas. Type Tuesday events are free and open to anyone who loves type!

Type Tuesday has been part of the Twin Cities type community for over a decade. In the summer of 2011, Craig Eliason founded Type Tuesdays, a group of type designers, graphic designers, letterpress printers, educators, and other font-obsessed people in the Twin Cities area. He coordinated monthly meetings (give or take a month here or there) for almost seven years, aimed at connecting to each other, learning about topics related to typography, and sharing their mutual passion for letters.

Type designer Michelle Webster restarted the group after the pandemic, coordinating presentations, and initiating type design work sessions which provide independent designers a venue for peer feedback on their type and lettering projects. Puzzlingly, the plural on Tuesday was lost somehow, in the management transition.

How do I join or participate?

It’s a casual affiliation, just show up to the events that interest you! Events are free, and as mentioned above, they are open to anyone who loves type. Note, however, that for the work/crit sessions, the group size is limited so that everyone gets a chance to discuss their project — be sure to reserve your slot when the tickets are released.
