Hey Type Tuesdayers!
I’d like to introduce myself and announce our first official meeting of the summer! My name is Libbie Bischoff and I run my own foundry, Type Du Nord. A little while ago, I met with Michelle to discuss getting involved in this group and now here we are! Michelle and I will be working together and sharing Type Tuesday duties. We hope this means that we will have regular meetings and will be able to socialize regularly with our fellow type nerds. <3
For logistical reasons, we have decided to move the email list to Substack as it is a free platform and gives the Type Tuesday newsletter a home in the form of a website. It also has features that could be useful to the group such as a chat feature and the ability to comment on the newsletter. We also hope this can turn into a space for us to share our work, recent releases, or any relevant topics with the group!
These extra features do require an account and I am aware that Substack can be a little incessant with its notifications and unnecessary emails so here is a blog post that walks you through disabling these notifications! Of course, you can remain a regular email subscriber without having a Substack account. We hope this transition will be smooth and are happy to answer any questions that may come up!
Now comes the fun part! The date of our next meeting will be July 29th at the Minneapolis Central Library (downtown Minneapolis) in the Robins, Kaplan, Miller, and Ciresi Community Meeting (RKMC) Room (second floor) from 6-8pm. We would like have an open critique for anyone to share their work and get feedback from the group. This has been successful in the past and seems like a great way to catch up with everyone! So please bring a digital proof of your typeface! You can bring your own laptop to plug it into the screen in the meeting room or it can be airdropped to Michelle’s or my laptop.
Our current plan for meetings in the last Tuesday of every other month. Odd-numbered months if that is easier to remember! This can be reassessed as time goes on but right now it seems like it will be the most feasible for us to manage.
We are so happy to be back and can’t wait to see what you’ve all been working on!
See you soon!
Libbie & Michelle
